Ferrellgas Dedicates Pink Bobtail Truck in Honor of Employee’s Wife

Today, Ferrellgas Partners, L.P. (NYSE:FGP), one of the nation's largest propane distributors, will dedicate a specially designed “bobtail” delivery truck to a Louisville woman who passed away from breast cancer.

Gordy Thomas, Ferrellgas Operations Manager, lost his wife, Sue, to breast cancer two years ago. In honor of Sue, the company has repainted one of its recognizable propane bobtail trucks from blue to hot pink as a symbol of the company’s commitment to fighting breast cancer.

Five percent of sales from the pink truck will be donated to the Louisville chapter of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

“When I see the bobtail that’s been painted pink for the cure, it gives me hope that we are making a difference in this fight,” said Thomas. “As is company tradition, the truck has been given a woman’s name. I’m very proud that this pink bobtail is named ‘Sue.’”

Local members of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure chapter, Ferrellgas employees, and other guests will attend today’s dedication and reception to show support for the fight against breast cancer.

  • Where: Hyatt Regency Louisville, 320 West Jefferson (pink truck to be parked in front of hotel)
  • When: Jan. 12, 2009 at 10 a.m.

In addition to Louisville, Ferrellgas also has a pink truck in Kansas City, Mo., with plans to add them in Austin, Tex., and Portland, Ore.

“This pink truck is dedicated to Sue Thomas and the other brave women who have battled, or are battling, breast cancer,” said President and Chief Operating Officer Stephen L.
